Value addition, to order

02The styles

Every shirt and short, online.

Boyswear is shirting: 27 of the 29 boys styles online are shirts. Collar, placket, pocket and hem are where a boys shirt is judged, so they are where this page looks first.

The shirt, part by part.

Boyswear is judged at the collar, the placket, the pocket and the hem. Each part a buyer checks on a boys shirt, shown on a style from current production.
  1. A Cuban collar worn open: the collar lies flat and the fronts turn back beneath it.

    01 / 06Collars

Open, flat, or on a band

Open Cuban and camp collars that lie flat, and classic collars on a band for the full-sleeve checks.
  2. Cotton Checkered Shirt

    2. 02Cross-stitched buttons
    Twin-pocket check shirt · style 915578

    02 / 06Checks

The check, turned on the bias

A check has to meet at the seams. Cutting a pocket or placket on the bias turns it diagonal on purpose, a choice planned in the marker before the cloth is cut.
  3. Palm leaves drawn in fine gold lines on a black ground.

    01Line print699867

Leaves painted in loose watercolour strokes, teal, green and orange on an off-white ground.

    02Watercolour print766187

A dense patchwork print of tiki masks, fish, pineapples and surfboards.

    03Patchwork print861837

    03 / 06Prints

All-over prints, from line work to patchwork

An all-over print still needs placing: across a placket, a pocket and the collar the repeat should run on without a visible break.

    2. 02Shirt-tail hem
    Full-sleeve cotton check shirt · style 653586

    05 / 06Solids

    Solids, developed from your reference

Solids are part of the range beside checks and prints. None is in the online selection, so a solid shirt is developed from your reference, on any of the collars above.

    Pull-on striped cotton shorts · style 759899

Shorts to pair with the shirt

The bottomwear beside the shirting, cut in woven cloth, which holds a cleaner line than a knit short.

03Development

How boys styles are developed.

  1. 01

    Choose the collar

Cuban, camp or classic collar on a band: the collar sets the shirt's character, so it is fixed first.
  2. 02

    Choose the cloth

Print, check or solid, in the fabrics listed below; checks can be placed straight or on the bias at pocket and placket.
  3. 03

    Sample the fit

Proto and fit samples are made against your measurements, then salesman samples for range presentation.
  4. 04

    Approve the counter sample

Bulk cutting waits for the approved counter sample; quantities and delivery are confirmed against the programme.
